All the Ford F150s are considered light duty. The Ford F250 is heavy duty with a heavier frame so it can carry and tow more. If gas mileage is your desire, the F150 would do you better. If you do not care about gas mileage and want load bearing and towing capability, the F250 is better. Since you are talking about a hunting truck, you may want to put a camper shell on it. The F250 is far better for that. HINT….do not get a duelly. The outside tires will not fit the tire grooves on rough trails and you will find the outside two tires getting a lot of flats. Just get single rear wheels and get ones designed for off road travel…..Carry a same size spare.

    Joshua,

There are a lot of factors going into what would make the best hunting truck for you. Where you plan on hunting, what you are after, how many people you are bringing, and what equipment you bring.

The F-150 is a general use truck, good for basic work and play, while the F-250 is in the Super Duty line, with a focus on heavier workloads and harder play.

The best recommendation would go to your local dealer and test drive each and see what works best for you.
