The Ford diesels will pull anything all day long! You can really go wrong with them but do your research. Having a new truck will provide you with a warantee which will be very important since some of the new engines have been hit or miss. The transmissions have been pretty solid from what I know.
Either way a turbo diesel will be wonderful!
The new 6.7L diesel is amazing and far better than either the 6.4L or 6.0L it replaces. It has class leading 400hp and 800 lb/ft of torque and can do sub 8 second 0-60′s (Which is very impressive for a truck that weighs between 7 and 9 thousand pounds depending on configuration. All the while its capable of achieving between 15 and 20mpg in mixed driving. Towing is also class leading.
All and all I think you would be very happy with this truck, and I know for a fact it would effortlessly pull your 21 foot boat.
