where is the best place to find information about what Ford parts interchange with each other?

I have 2 Ford truck projects at the moment. One is a 77 F250 with a D60,D44,NP205, and NP435 running gear.I am wanting to replace the NP435 with a tough 5 speed. The motor is a 351M400. What would be the best candidate for the swap?

A trip to the local junkyard should reveal a few candidates. If you can find a late 80′s model F250 or heavy duty 150 that has the ZF S5-42 transmission in it, you have hit paydirt. This is a five speed manual that can handle up to 470 lbs ft. of torque at the input shaft, and may be what you are looking for. I can’t remember the exact cutoff year but 87-88 had them. You can recognize them by the square plate on the side that is covering the available PTO option. Good luck! It should fit easily to your 351.
