My mechanic said i needed a new computer but he said that there is a chip in the key that needs to match the computer or it wont run for more than a few seconds. Is this true? Or is he full of it? This will make it hard to get from a junkyard the key and the computer. Im not paying 800 for one from the dealer.

I’m in the market for a new mid-size SUV, i’ve looked at the Murano, and that’s pretty much it. I currently drive a 2001 JGC Laredo. My brother-in-law is a GM at a Chysler dealership and said he has a 08 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo that with his employee discount can get me the vehicle for $17460 + TTL. Good deal?
Also, anyone with any experience with multiple car seats in this vehicle? Plenty of room?

Chrysler doesn’t offer any financing directly thru them, they basically search for the best rate thru area banks, I have been able to secure 4.75% thru a local credit union.
okay on this vehicle which has over 155XXX miles it’s 15 years old i bought it in september last year it was in very good condition well since i bought it only the fastest windshield wiper speed worked and just recently probably a little bit over a month my Right Blinker started to freeze when it’s blinking and i press the brake and when i turn the steering wheel right to a certain degree it also freezes and then the windshield wipers stopped completely now i checked all the fuses they were all good i took it to a mechanic who knows electronics and he told me there is a electrical problem somewhere in the system ( by system i think he means the electrical system ) now i will still have to replace the turn signal,wiper,light dimmer,bright accessory switch anyway but the mechanic is going to have to search for the problem he will charge me $50.00 per hour does anyone know what this problem could be or a proper term for what he is looking for?
Hi. I’m planning on buying a Jeep Grand Cherokee soon and couldn’t decide between the Laredo and Rocky Mountain packages. I know that Rocky Mountain has some more features but was wondering whether there are any external body differences between the models. From looking at pictures, it seemed like the Rocky Mountain was a little lower to the ground than the Laredo, but I might be mistaken. Thanks in advance.
The headlamp covers on a ‘96 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo I just bought are very cloudy and faded, and I haven’t been able to find somewhere that will sell me a new factory set. I don’t want smoked lenses or anything like that, just new factory ones. Will I have to go to a dealer (and pay their likely buffed-up price?)
Also, one of the dials is missing on the air conditioning/heat panel. There are supposed to be three, one to control air “speed” (lo, med, hi), one to control air flow direction (dash vents, floor vents, etc.), and the third controls temperature. It’s the temp one that’s missing. The middle knob comes off with a little pulling, and I can put it in the temp one if I need to, but I’d like to have an original. Anywhere I can get one of those, too?
i have a 1989 jeep cherokee laredo compact with a 4.0l, in-line 6 engine, 4wd,4dr. it runs pretty good but i need to change a few parts that are wearing out. what i want to know is what other years of jeeps can i interchange parts off of as new jeep parts are too pricey for me right now and old jeep parts are kinda hard to find. thank you
